Farewell New Zealand

This was my last trip to New Zealand, I had expected to be back for work, but everything can change so quickly in my job. As well as the great people I have met, this is such a wonderful country, and I'll be the first to put my hand up to go back there. I was so fortunate to work in the city of Tauranga, a short drive from some great parts of the North Island. Here are some photos of the last day trip I did with two work mates.

The Green or Blue lake, not sure which one this photo is of, they are next to each other, not far from Rotarua.
Lake Tarawera, these volcanoes errupted in the 1880s, hard to imagine now. Nobody was around, incredibly peaceful, just wish I had a boat.
This is probably the most stunning photo and view of all, towards Lake Tarawera.

Rotarua / Lake Taupo

Bit of a belated post. Finally got to Rotarua in New Zealand. I have never seen anything like this before, water boiling up from the ground. This one is the largest in New Zealand, and away from all the tourist strip. It supplies the local swimming pool.

Bubbling mud..
and a massive inland lake, in the middle of the north island - Lake Taupo, a really beautiful place.

Coast to Coast

Decided to go on a longish walk through Auckland.
Started in Onehunga Bay south of Auckland's city centre. Through the suburbs and then up One Tree Hill.
Down One Tree Hill and through Cornwall Park. Then through the suburbs and up another Volcanic peak, Maungawhau (Mt. Eden). Nice views of the city and a large volcanic cone.
Then down to Auckland Domain, where I got a bit lost and ended up in Parnell. Found the trail again which headed up through the University of Auckland, through the city and down to the Viaduct Harbour where the walk ended.
A great walk, highly recommend it.
